Some of the dance forms are: Chari Dance: Chari dance also known as pot dance (Chari means a Pot) is a famous folk dance of Rajasthan, where the dancer puts a pot on the head with a lighted diya on it. Ghoomar Dance: Ghoomar dance is a graceful folk dance performed by group of women. Usually Ghoomar dance is performed in auspicious occasions where women dance in circles with gentle movements. Fire Dance: People of different race and culture reside in Rajasthan. Jasnathi is one such community from Bikaner. The people of this community performs fire dance, which involves a huge fire and men dancing around the fire and jumping in to it following the beats of the drums. Terah Thali: Terah Thali is a dance form performed in honour of Baba Ramdeo, the traditional deity of the Kamad community of Pokhran and Deedwana. In this dance both man and women performs. The men play Chau-tara and the women dance with either holding swords between their teeth or placing pots with lighted lamps on their heads. Kalbelia Dance: This is an interesting dance popularly known as 'Snake Charmer'. This a vigorous dance forms where the Kalbelia women dance keeping at par with the rising tempo of the music. Kachhi Godhi: This rhythmic dance form looks very graceful when men in colorful costumes, holding naked swords dance riding decorated dummy horses. It looks as if several soldiers dancing gleefully in the beats of the drums. Puppet shows: At some destinations you can also see puppet shows, which is one of the incredible part of Rajasthani culture. |
